“Resistance”
The origins of capoeira go back to slavery in Brazil and the African slave trade. The confrontation of these actions and contexts made it possible for this bodily practice to flourish. Blacks in the condition of slaves never fully submitted to white violence, whether physical or symbolic, creating their own practices of resistance. Evidently, capoeira faced a series of prejudices and rejections until its recent recognition as a national historical heritage by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute.
There are several styles of capoeira, but the three main ones are:
Capoeira Angola – oldest form.
Capoeira Regional – created by the famous master Bimba, it has a faster and drier musical rhythm, in addition to smoother movements.
Contemporary Capoeira – is a more recent practice, it emerged in the 70s.

Live in Person public talk of Amazonian writer about his book
Presentation of the book by: Rafael Azevedo
Title: Presentation and reading of the novel “Echoes in the heart of the earth”
Rafael Azevedo is a Brazilian writer. He has a master’s degree in Literary Studies (2019) and is studying for a doctorate at the Federal University of Pará, in the city of Belém, where he resides. He has short stories published in anthologies, including the 2021 Off Flip Seal Award and in the magazine “Mapas do Confinamento”. He published the short story “Inside Flying Rivers”, which will be translated in 2022 into English and French. The Amazon, in all its dimensions, is one of the mirrors of his work. The novel “Echoes in the heart of the earth”, recently published by Kotter Editorial (2021), is his debut in fiction. In His fiction book he brings up the destruction of Amazonia by the Indios. They destroy their own environment and selves in order to improve their lives. It’s a book of mirroring and putting on different faces by not just them but the whole humanity. The novel Echoes in the Heart of the Earth reflects a universal human reality. The Amazon, in the work, is not a static territory, but moves to other imagined places, presenting contemporary paradoxes, to abstract the reality of language from the world. Literature shows us lives indirectly, formulating new reflections. The book Echoes in the Heart of the Earth talks about silence, absence, violence and hope, and also proposes a journey into the heart of tyranny. In this sense, the reader enters the homes of those who destroyed, exploited, bled the forest and its population, but now are ruined, exhausted, decaying. The work, a reflection of Shakespeare’s tragedies and Franz Kafka’s modern novels, is an invitation to a dense Amazon, of natural forests that resonate in the forests of the human soul. Rafael Azevedo’s book can be purchased from the author himself and on the website of Editora Kotter Editorial. The author is open to dialogues, interactions and projects. Instagram: @rafael_azeved_

“…abayomi is the best of me for you… to know …where I came from there is no beginning no end to living… or dying… man, woman, child, elderly sing and dance, playing with the bones of our ancestors/abayomi, a toy that appears between the fingers, shredding the same existential knots/where there is love and enjoyment overcoming sorrows?

Poem –
Anjali, journey of a young woman in to the world of human trafficking. She opened her eyes and took her first breath. Theirs was simply relief, praying for her health. Labour pains a distant memory. Mum brimming with joy. Gifts exchanged; hugs shared by many. One wishing she was a boy. The sun shimmered freely on the surface of the sea. Watching her run and play, his heart filled with glee. Anjali, Anjali, truly – a divine offering. A father’s angel; never felt such natural highs. Building sandcastles, she knew of no suffering. Arms open to protect her from preying eyes. Tears flood like the ocean waves, heart aching with longing. Memories of joyous days long passed; hopes dashed of any making. Anjali, Oh, Anjali! Everything – a living nightmare. Rage, guilt, confusion and more all so potent. Taken for others’ greed, parents lives’ left so bare. Unsuspecting, you are the toy for others’ entertainment. Days and nights, weeks and years, just so painful. All things still, still, still; our anguish and theirs just sinful. Knocking at the door now so unfair, it is all a pass. Searching and yearning no longer a ray of light. Dreams of walking you down the aisle shattered like broken glass. Sitting, waiting, breathing no longer feels right. Anjali, a gift from the divine, never felt so bitter. Stollen of your innocence, may they all burn in hells’ fire. Raucous laughter for cheap thrills, bellies filled with toxins. Blinded by their desires, failing to see the hurt they cause. Constantly shunted from place to place, pumped full of poisons. Numb to the world, you know not of your pains for their joys. Days and nights, weeks and years, just so painful. Anjali, oh, Anjali, their wretched ways so soulless. You live on in our hearts, a life so selfless. Communities wake; politicians wave flags in your memory. We know not of such treachery. All things still, still, still, our hearts so full, full, full.

Dias e noites, semanas e anos, tão dolorosos
Todas as coisas quietas, quietas, quietas; nossa angústia e a deles apenas pecaminosa
Dias e noites, semanas e anos, tão dolorosos
Todas as coisas quietas, ainda, ainda, nossos corações tão cheios, cheios, cheios.

Title: H.W.: Howling Winds
It’s about Myanmar democracy. The melody she sings is the protest song in myanmar. The two sculptures symbolize the people who got killed so far. The red thread has multi-layered meaning, from being blood to being connected.
“I used to think ‘everyday life’ was a given space that I could lead as my will. The process that leaves the traces of one’s life seemed to be the way of life guaranteed. Words I used to saw in my textbook flushed. News surrounding my day intensified; tragedy and rage that uprooted one’s lives swallowed up everyday life of the people.
Stepping forward to overcome the pain,
One more voice in alliance for another step forward,
A prayer for a return to ordinary everyday life”
Introduction to the performance:
Prerecorded live performance video:

The work reflects on the human being and the destruction of the world’s tropical forests. The market eliminating resources, the state filling its pockets with extractivism. Asphyxia is the set of terrors that the jungle, our greens, our mountains, our lakes endure. The action emerges from previous actions based on transmutations, confinement, anxiety, chaos, social protest and biopolitics.
